Mid-June Update: Comprehensive Enhancements and New Data Export Functionality

We are thrilled to announce the release of Yearly version 1.6.0, arriving in mid-June 2024. This update brings a range of exciting new features, improvements, and fixes to enhance your experience with Yearly.

New Features and Improvements

Editable Trend Options

When adding a Trend, users can now update the description of the Trend Options. Simply tap the Trend option, and a keyboard will appear, allowing you to update the Trend Option effortlessly.

Trend Editor Access

A new button has appeared in the top right of each Trend. This new gear icon allows you to re-access the Trend Editor. Update the Trend Name, the color palette, and, just as you can in the updated Add Trend view, update the Trend Options at any time.

Option Limitations

We are still limiting users from adding new Options at this time. Functionally, it would be challenging to allow users to add and remove Options, especially if there is a massive amount of retroactive data to update.

Future Updates

In a future update, we will allow users to create their own color palettes and include more color palettes for users to choose from. Currently, there are 27 unique color themes available, and we believe that is quite a lot! However, we know everyone loves to customize, so stay tuned for more options.

UI Improvements

We have made several improvements to the UI throughout the app for a better user experience.

Bug Fixes

• Deleted Trends: Users who have deleted Trends should now see that they are properly removed from the list. The delete command was previously accepted but not properly executed. Retroactively, we have ensured they are removed from your list.

Enhanced Data Export Functionality

In this update, we have introduced a comprehensive schema for exporting trend data. This new schema is designed to be more user-friendly and detailed, allowing you to capture and manage your trend data more effectively.

Exported Data Schema

Root Level

• Array of Trends: The root level contains an array of trend objects. Each trend object includes detailed information about a specific trend, along with its associated data points and options.

Trend Object

• uuid (String): Unique identifier for the trend.
• name (String): Name of the trend.
• icon (String): Icon representing the trend.
• removedByUser (Boolean): Indicates if the trend was removed by the user.
• options (Array of Option Objects): Array of options associated with the trend.
• data (Array of TrendData Objects): Array of data points related to the trend.

Option Object

• color (String): Color associated with the option, typically in hex format.
• description (String): Description of the option.
• value (Integer): Value associated with the option, used to connect with the value in TrendData.

TrendData Object

• uuid (String): Unique identifier for the data point.
• date (String): Date associated with the data point, formatted as “yyyy-MM-dd”.
• note (String): Additional notes related to the data point.
• value (Integer): Value of the data point.
• maxValue (Integer): Maximum possible value for the data point.

How to Use the New Export Functionality

To utilize the new export functionality, ensure you are using version 1.6.0 or later. Follow these steps to export your data:

1. Navigate to the Data Management Section: In your application, go to the Data Management section in Settings.
2. Export Data: Click on the “Export Data” button to generate the JSON file.
3. Review the Export: The exported data will be saved as a JSON file in your Files app, find the Yearly app Folder in the iCloud folder..

Your Data, Your Control

At Yearly, we believe that you should never be stuck on any platform with internalized data that you don’t have access to in some way. Whether your intention is to use this data for visualization outside of the app or to leave the app entirely, we want this data to be yours. Forever.
